Last week, before leaving Israel for my two month trip, we went on a walk around Tel Aviv. We started our walk in the Florentin, which made our decision of where to eat quite easy. We had to go to my favourite vegan restaurant Nanuchka.
In my experiences dining at vegan restaurants, some dishes can be great but others on the menu, not so much. At Nanuchka I have never been disappointed. I love the entire menu.
The restaurant serves Georgian cuisine, and for many years it was anything but vegan, offering traditional Georgian dishes made with meat, eggs, and dairy. In 2014 the owner of Nanuchka, Nana Shrier, made the very daring switch to make her restaurant 100% vegan. And it seems to be a roaring success, the place is always bustling and alive.
The best part is that the food is real food! No over use of imitation meats or soy products. All the dishes are made with tons of fresh veggies and love! I would say that it is one of the most popular restaurants in Tel Aviv, for vegans and non-vegans alike. The food, the ambiance, the people and the message make it my number one choice in Tel Aviv, and quite possibly of all time.
Take a look at the menu, and then head over there and dig in. Lilenblum 30, TEL AVIV 03-5162254
